Hippy the ugly Hippo

The tale of Hippy the ugly Hippo. Hippy the Hippo and the Gale, the Giraffe were best of friends. Of the two, the Hippo was the most beautiful when compared to the Giraffe who was also known for his handsome looks. The Hippo was not always beautiful though. When he was younger, he had a nice purple glow around him that everyone in the forest thought was the best look. This is until one day when he saw some villagers dumping green slime into the water that he lived in. He was so sickened by the slime in his home that he decided never to step into the water again and from then on went to live with his cousins, ‘the land Hippos’.

Although the land hippo’s lived on land, they still made time for a swim in the water. Hippy, on the other hand, had developed a phobia for water that he never joined them anytime they went for a swim. With time, he started losing his once beautiful glow, becoming dull, grey, and ugly. All the other Hippos thought that Hippy had a disease. They never wanted to associate with Hippy the ugly Hippo so they chased him away from their home.

Hippy had no choice but to go live with his best friend Gale, the Giraffe.  At first, life for the two friends was good as they would spend their time talking and having fun together in the house. But Hippy was not the best roommate.  He was very messy, he always ate all the food, broke most of the things in Gales’s house and he never cleaned up after himself.

With time, his behaviors started to irritate Gale so much. He was always exhausted from cleaning up after Hippy and he started planning how he would get rid of him. His only plan was to send him back to the river. Where Hippy used to live as he knew no one on land would live with Hippy.

One evening after dinner. Gale put some sleeping pills in Hippy’s water for him to get into a deep sleep that night. Once he was asleep, Gale quickly dragged Hippy out of his house and took him to the water that he used to live in.

Interestingly, as soon as Hippy’s body touched the water, his once beautiful purple glow came back. This gave him the beauty that he once had. Hippy realized that all this time, he had feared the water for nothing. From then onwards, Hippy started living in the water once again and his glow only became more and more beautiful.
