Trip Gone Wrong

Within a small town, there lived a boy named John. One sunny morning, John woke up with a big smile on his face. He knew that the day held a thrilling adventure for him. In a hurry, he changed into his favorite clothes and gobbled down his breakfast.

Today was the first time John was going on a journey all by himself, a brand-new experience filled with wonder and excitement. Since he had packed his bag the night before, there wasn’t much left to do. After breakfast, he bid farewell to his parents and set off for the bustling bus station. His destination? A visit to his uncle who resided in the tranquil rural area.

Upon reaching the bus station, John was greeted by a row of buses and colorful matatus. He met a friendly conductor who had a persuasive way about him, making the matatu seem like a great choice. John usually preferred buses for their safety, but the conductor’s kindness won him over.

Thousands of people took matatus every day without any trouble, after all. With a stroke of luck, John found a seat next to the kind-hearted conductor, instantly feeling secure. The journey promised to be a long one, and as the engine roared to life, he began to drift into a deep, peaceful sleep.

Suddenly, he was roused from his slumber by a gentle tap on his shoulder. The conductor asked for a favor, seeking help to locate his misplaced cellphone. John eagerly dialed the conductor’s number, and soon, the phone was back in its owner’s hand, and the journey resumed without a hitch. As the day went on, a commotion erupted on the matatu. A fellow passenger had lost their phone, and a small crowd had gathered to assist.

They decided to call the lost phone, and to John’s astonishment, his own phone began to ring! His heart raced as if trying to break free from his chest. It was then that he realized the conductor had set him up. The conductor had cunningly used John’s willingness to help to get his phone number and shared it with the group. In addition, they forced John off the matatu and snatched his phone along with all his belongings. He was left feeling hopeless, helpless, and utterly hapless. He had no idea what to do next.

Moral: Don’t do something unsafe for someone else.
