The Heartless Man

The Heartless Man

This is a story about the heartless man I had become.

One dark and stormy night, I heard a knock on my door. I wondered who would be outside in such bad weather. When I opened the door, I saw a shaggy old man standing in the rain. His clothes were all wet and dirty.

He asked, “Can I stay here for the night?” I didn’t like how he looked, so I quickly said, “No!” and shut the door.

An hour later, there was another knock. I was very grumpy because I thought it might be the old man coming back. But when I opened the door, I saw a man dressed in a shiny blue suit, holding a fancy umbrella.

looked very rich and his pockets were bulging with money. He asked if he could stay with me for the night. I thought he looked nice, so I said, “Yes!” and let him in.

The next morning, I woke up and found the rich man had left. To my surprise, he had taken all my things but left me his fancy umbrella. I was very sad and didn’t understand what had happened.

Just then, my neighbor came by and told me something surprising. The shaggy old man had asked him for a place to stay that night too. My neighbor had welcomed him, and the next morning, the old man had given him twenty shiny gold bars as a thank you!

I learned an important lesson that day. Sometimes, people who look different or not very fancy can be kind and helpful, while others might not be what they seem.

I also promised never to be a heartless man again!

Moral: Don’t judge people by how they look.
