The fake slum lady

The tale of the fake slum lady. Annette was a rich lady who lived in the leafy suburbs of the North. She was curious about the life the poor people lived in the slums. She wanted to experience it for herself. A lot of people warned her about life in the slums but she would hear none of it. Annette wanted to look like a fake slum lady. She dressed up in some of her old torn clothes. Then set out to live in one of the houses she had borrowed from one of the ladies of the slums. She carried along with her a piece of gold that she hoped she would sell for some money.

Life in the slums was interesting with everyone having fun with what was around them, and with no care in the world. This however did not last very long as just as she had started making friends and having fun, she was attacked by some people who had heard about her piece of gold and had come to steal it from her. Luckily for her, the neighbors were able to come to her rescue making the thieves run away before they could snatch the gold from her. This made her want to sell the gold as quickly as possible, just so she could get some money.

She went around the entire neighborhood asking traders how much they would buy the piece of stone she had with her. Most of them were quick to offer her $100 while she knew that it was worth a lot more; In fact she had bought the piece of gold for $ 10,000. This made her continue searching until she found the perfect buyer.

Finally, she found a man who was able to offer her $ 15,000 for the piece of gold. She was so excited that she was finally getting her money’s worth. She quickly took the money without much of a thought and went to her ‘borrowed’ house happy to finally get some money. It was when she started counting the money that she realized that it was all fake.

She had just been scammed; but for some reason, she was not surprised.

Moral: When the deal is too good, think twice.
