Mom and son had heard stories of treasure in their backyard. They would spend most of their time digging through their backyard looking for the treasure. They had been digging for months until one day the son got bored of digging leaving the mom to continue digging by herself. This was understandable as no one wants to dig under the sun for hours every day. He now wanted to spend some time with his friends.
The mom continued digging, moving from corner to corner, deeper and deeper. One day when she got to just over 100 feet deep, she bumped into something mind-blowing. She found a big casket that she opened hoping to see the treasure from the stories, but this was not to be. She instead found an old man, alive and sleeping. When the old man awoke he told the mom how his daughter had planned to get rid of him. His daughter buried him alive in the casket just so she could take all his wealth and riches for herself. What was not known was why she decided to leave him food.
To his surprise, the food that he was buried in kept him alive. Because of his limited movement while in the casket, he was able to save up on his oxygen thus staying alive. It was then that he realized that some years had gone by since he had been buried. He found out that his daughter had passed on soon after she had buried him and she unfortunately never got to enjoy the wealth she had planned to spend by burying her father.
The old man was so grateful to the mom for saving his life that he shared his wealth with her. Turns out that the house they lived in was the one the old man used to live in back then. After the daughter died, no one in the town dared live in it as they thought it was haunted. The mom and son had just moved into town and since they were new, they did not know much about the house nor did they think much about the stories of this haunted house. Turns out it was the best decision of their life; they were now rich, thanks to the old man who was buried in their backyard.
Moral: Hard work pays.
