When the snake thought it had tricked the entire village, then came the boy who outsmarted the snake instead.
There was once an isolated little island far away from the mainland. They spent their days playing games and telling stories, but they always wondered what life was like outside their island. They had never seen what was beyond their shores because they didn’t know how to build boats or bridges.
One sunny day, a giant snake slithered onto the beach. “Hello, everyone!” the snake said with a big grin. “I can stretch all the way to the mainland, and I’ll carry you there for a visit!”
The islanders were thrilled! They jumped and cheered, excited to finally see the world beyond their island. But there was one little boy who felt a twinge of worry. He thought to himself, “Why is this snake being so nice? There must be a catch!”
While everyone else was celebrating, the boy quietly gathered thorns from the forest. He stuffed them into his backpack, just in case.
When the time came, the snake stretched its long body out over the water, forming a bridge. The islanders hurried across, laughter and excitement filling the air. But as they reached halfway, the sneaky snake suddenly coiled back, ready to gobble them up!
It was then that the boy sprang into action. “Quick! Use these thorns!” he shouted, handing them out to everyone. They started scratching the snake with the thorns as it swallowed them, making the snake hiss in pain.
“Stop! Stop!” the snake cried out, wriggling and twisting. “I’ll make a deal with you! If you stop pricking me, I’ll take you to the mainland without eating you!”
The boy thought carefully and then nodded. “Okay, but you must promise to keep your word!”
Once they reached the mainland, everyone was amazed! It was beautiful and full of colorful buildings, and shiny things they had never seen before. They laughed and explored, taking in all the wonders around them.
Before heading back to the island, the islanders bought everything they needed for their next adventure—including fishing nets, tools, and even a small boat! They were now ready to cross the ocean anytime they wanted.
When they finally returned to their island, they were filled with stories to share and treasures to show. The boy had outsmarted the snake, and now everyone could enjoy exploring the world beyond their little island.
