The Peaceful Spider

The peaceful spider
This story is about the peaceful spider that found itself in unfamiliar places.

There once was a spider that loved to live in the city watching people. He usually sat on top of the tallest building in town, in one of the spouts. To him, the spout was the perfect place for peeking out and seeing all the bustling streets below.

He especially loved watching the street performances which he found so interesting and fun.

One day, as the spider was watching the usual street activities, he fell into a very deep sleep. It was such a peaceful spider asleep that he did not realize it when the weather started changing.

Dark clouds began to form, and the wind started to blow. Everyone scurried inside to stay dry, but he kept on snoozing.

Soon, the rain started pouring down. It was a big, wet storm, and the rainwater started to fill up his spout. The spider woke up startled by the rainwater and tried his best to climb up the spout and back to his home, but the rainwater was too strong for him.

Eventually, he got tired of going against the rain and he let himself get carried away with the rushing rainwater. He then found himself floating down the street waiting for the sun to dry him and his sprout.

Right then, there was a man who was watching the spider from his window and to remember this moment, he decided to write a song about it. A song that is now famously sung by children all over the world.

Have you ever heard of the song? It goes something like…(sing along if you know it)

Incy wincy spider went up the waterspout,
Down came the rain and washed the spider out,
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
So Incy wincy spider went up the spout again.

Moral: Think carefully about your choices.
