Scammed off a wallet is a story of how my grandfather lost a wallet he had just found.
When I was a little kid, I lived with my grandparents because my mom had passed away when I was born, and my dad left soon after. We didn’t have much money, so we struggled to get by. I always felt sad watching my friends talk about their cool toys and fun activities while I had so little.
One day, when I came home from school, I found my grandfather looking as happy as a kid with a new puppy. He was smiling and laughing, and I couldn’t understand why. “Call your grandmother! Something amazing has happened!” he said excitedly.
I ran as fast as I could, like a speedy little deer, to find Grandma. When we were all together, Grandpa told us his big news. “Today, while I was walking home, I found a wallet full of money! Instead of keeping it, I tried to find the owner.
I was lucky and managed to find him! He was so thankful that he offered me a job at his company and gave me his phone number.”
Excited, we called the number Grandpa had been given, hoping to learn more about the job. But when we tried, the number didn’t work, and no one answered. Turns out the company did not even exist.
We realized then that Grandpa had been tricked by someone who just wanted to steal the wallet from him.
Still, Grandma was happy that Grandpa did not keep the wallet for himself despite not having enough money for the family.
Moral of the story: Take your time to always investigate. Don’t just believe everyone.
