A boy who was tricked into a dangerous journey where he gets lost in the desert and learns that sometimes, the hardest lessons can lead to the greatest discoveries.
There was a boy named Olla. He didn’t have much food, and to survive, he would steal from people’s shops and houses. People in the town didn’t like it, but they also felt sorry for him because he was an orphan with no one to take care of him.
One day, a man approached Olla offering to help him. But little did Olla know that he had another plan.
He told Olla, “I know a place where you can live without stealing from others. Here, you will be loved and cared for by the kind people who live there.”
Olla, desperate to find a safe place, trusted the man.
However, the man had tricked Olla. Instead of a place full of kind people, Olla was taken to the cruelest place on earth—where no one cared about anyone else.
Everyone there was mean and harsh, and Olla was too scared to even steal food because if he did, he would be punished. The boy realized that this place was too dangerous to survive in and he knew that if he didn’t do something, he would die of hunger.
Olla knew he had to escape.
He decided to make his way back home, even though it was a long journey away. The path back home went through a dry, hot desert and the journey was very dangerous. But he had no choice – he had to try.
About half way through the desert, lost and hungry from all the heat, Olla felt dizzy and collapsed.
He passed out under the blazing sun, and with the desert wind flying by, he was soon covered in sand.
But fate was on his side. A passer-by walking the same path found him.
As soon as the man saw that Olla was still alive, he quickly dug him out, covered him and gave him some water to drink. He then carefully placed Olla on his donkey and began to travel with him.
When Olla woke up, he thanked the man and told him his story.
“Hi, I’m Olla. Thank you for helping me”, he said. “I’ve had such a terrible time. I was tricked by a man who sent me to a horrible place where I could not even get some food to eat. Can you please help me get back home?”
The man smiled. “I’ll help you, Olla. Where is home?”
Luckily for Olla, the old man was heading to the same town as where he lived.
The journey was long, but eventually, the man and Olla finally reached the town.
When they got to the town, the man took the boy to his house only for the boy to see the man that tricked him living in the same house. It turns out that they were brothers.
“YOU, why did you send me away” shouted the boy in shock.
The man who had tricked him looked sad and said, “I only did it to protect you. The people in the town were planning to hurt you because they were tired of the stealing. I thought it was better for you to leave and survive than stay here and be in danger.”
Olla was stunned.
In that moment, the man who had helped him in the desert spoke up. “Why don’t we adopt him?” he suggested. “Olla can live with us. I’ll take care of him.”
The man who had tricked him apologized, and Olla slowly realized that maybe, just maybe, the man had done it out of love.
From that day on, Olla lived with both men, and they all worked together to make things right.
