This is the story of one bored princess whose curiosity led her to tragedy.
Once upon a time, a curious princess named Ann lived in a grand castle. Ann wasn’t like other princesses; she didn’t like to sit around in her fancy room, waiting for something exciting to happen. She always wanted to explore and discover new things.
One day, while wandering through the castle, Ann found herself outside a door she had never dared to open before. It was her mother’s room, and she had been told never to enter it. But this time, Ann couldn’t resist! She turned the handle and stepped inside.
As soon as she entered, excitement rushed over her like a breeze. Her mother’s room was filled with strange books, many of them she had never seen before! Ann’s heart skipped a beat. She loved reading, and these books looked so mysterious!
Her mother wasn’t home, so Ann wasn’t worried—so long as she put everything back where it belonged, no one would know.
She picked up the first book she could find. It had no title on the cover, just a blank space. She opened it, but the words inside were strange and didn’t make sense at all.
Curious as ever, Ann began reading the words out loud. “This doesn’t sound right,” she muttered, but kept going. When she finished the first sentence, something strange happened. The whole room seemed to grow larger!
Ann looked around, confused. The walls were stretching, and the air felt different. She started walking in circles, wondering what she had done.
Then—CRASH! Ann bumped into something in the corner and looked up. She was staring at herself in the mirror. But something was wrong—she was a frog!
She blinked in shock. “Oh no! How do I fix this?” she croaked.
She tried to hop around the room, thinking hard. “I’ll just wait for my mother to come home. She’ll know how to turn me back!”
When her mother finally returned, she was very surprised to see a frog sitting on the floor. She gasped and took a closer look. Then she started to laugh! “Ann, is that you?”
Ann croaked loudly, hopping up and down. Her mother smiled mischievously. “You are always so curious, my dear. I should have warned you. You see, I am a witch, and that book you read? It wasn’t just any book—it was magic!”
Ann’s eyes widened in surprise. “Wait… you’re a witch?!”
Her mother nodded. “Yes, and if you had stayed out of my things, you wouldn’t be a frog right now.”
Then, with a flick of her wrist, the witch cast a spell, and suddenly, a perfect copy of Ann appeared in front of her. “This is my new, obedient daughter,” she said with a grin. “Now, go on. Get out of my sight, little frog!”
Before Ann could protest, her mother scooped her up and tossed her out the window! Ann tumbled down into the bushes below, still in shock.
She realized something important as she sat there, wet and covered in leaves: Sometimes, it’s better to mind your own business and leave other people’s things alone.
From that day on, Ann learned to be careful about what she did and where her curiosity led her.
Moral of the story: Don’t do things you’re not supposed to because curiosity can sometimes lead to trouble!
