The Boy Who Wanted to Be Superman

The boy who wanted to be superman
In the tale of the Boy Who Wanted to Be Superman, Max learns that sometimes the greatest heroes don’t need to leave Earth to save the day.

Once, there was a boy named Max who loved Superman. He watched all the movies, read all the comics, and even wore a little red cape to school sometimes.

Max didn’t just want to pretend to be Superman; he wanted to be Superman for real.

“I’m going to travel to another planet,” he told himself, “and when I get there, I’ll get superpowers to help people in my town, just like Superman!”

So Max worked hard at school, dreamed big, and decided that one day he would buy a rocket to take him to this “special” planet.

When he got older, he started his own business, saved lots of money, and finally had enough to buy a shiny new rocket. His destination? Mars.

Why Mars? Well, Max had noticed something important: Superman’s symbol was red, his cape was red, and even his laser-beam eyes were red. “That’s it!” Max thought. “He must have gotten his powers from the red planet, and that was Mars!”

He packed for his 8-month journey, lots of food, warm clothes, and his favorite red cape, and blasted off into space.

When he finally landed, Max was so excited. “This is it! The planet of powers!” he said.

He stepped out onto the dusty, rocky ground, looked around at the red sky, and then had an idea. “If I breathe in Mars air, maybe it will give me my powers!”

But as soon as he lifted his helmet, whoosh!, dust blew right into his face.

He coughed and spluttered so much. The air was thin, cold, and full of red dust, not the magic powers he had imagined!

Max quickly put his helmet back on. “Phew!” he said. “Guess Mars isn’t handing out superpowers today.”

So, he climbed back into his rocket, flew home, and decided that maybe you don’t need to go to another planet to be a hero.

How can I help people right here on Earth, he wondered.

Moral: Always do your research before starting a big adventure, and remember, you can be a hero even without leaving home.
