The tale of the boy who fooled them all is a story of a Christmas play, a clever trick, and how the real winner wasn’t the one everyone expected.
At Trinity School, Christmas was a big deal. Every year the school held a Christmas play, and every student dreamed of landing the lead role.
This year, Alec’s class was buzzing with excitement. Every boy wanted to be the star. But the teacher had a problem; who should she choose? There were too many volunteers.
So, the boys came up with a plan:
“The fittest boy in the class will get the role!”
Now, most of the boys who wanted the part were bookworms. They could recite lines easily, but they weren’t exactly strong or sporty. Alec, on the other hand, was both athletic and eager to act. He was sure the role would be his.
When the big competition day arrived, Alec laced up his shoes, stretched his arms, and grinned. “This will be easy,” he thought.
But then… that is not the plan the universe had in mind.
One of the fittest boys in the entire school stepped onto the field.
The crowd gasped. Everyone knew this boy hated acting. He had never shown the slightest interest in plays. Why was he here?
The games began. Running, jumping, racing, and to everyone’s surprise, the boy crushed every single challenge. One by one, he won the races, scored the points, and climbed to the very top of the scoreboard.
When the competitions ended, he was declared the champion. According to the plan, that meant he got the lead role in the play.
The class was confused.
“But you don’t even like acting,” they said.
“Why did you bother competing?”
The boy smiled slyly.
“Oh, I didn’t do it for me,” he said. “I was paid to win.”
“Paid?!” the boys shouted.
“Yes,” he said, pointing to Alec’s biggest rival, the smartest boy in the class.
“He promised me his pocket money if I made sure he got the role instead. And guess what? He didn’t have to run a single race. Now he’s your star.”
The class erupted in shock. Alec was furious. His rival hadn’t even broken a sweat and yet, he walked away with the prize.
Moral: Sometimes, it’s not about playing hard… it’s about playing smart.
