The bad teacher did everything else for his class except teach.
In one sunny California town, there was a science teacher named Mr. Laughington. He was my teacher, and he was always full of jokes and fun games.
Every day in his class felt like a circus, with lots of laughter and very little learning. While we all loved his jokes, our grades were not so funny—they were really low!
In sixth grade, our class seemed to always be struggling. We noticed that other classes were doing well while we were falling behind. One day, the head teacher decided to put his son, Charlie, into our class. Charlie was super smart and always did his homework. We couldn’t figure out why he was joining our class, but we were excited to have a new friend!
Mr. Laughington continued his usual routine of games and jokes, not realizing that Charlie was actually on a secret mission. You see, Charlie’s dad was curious why our class wasn’t learning much. So, Charlie was sent to find out what was going on.
One ordinary afternoon, during Mr. Laughington’s lesson, something unexpected happened.
The door burst open and in walked several police officers! They surrounded Mr. Laughington, and he was quickly taken away to the police station for questioning. We were all stunned at what had just happened.
It was only later, that the head teacher explained to us that Mr. Laughington had been getting paid for his job but wasn’t actually teaching us anything – something he described as being fraudulent.
Turns out he was caught cheating the school by doing nothing at all. Charlie’s dad had been right to investigate our class after all!
From that day on, we had a new science teacher who taught us everything we needed to know.
Moral: Always be honest and do the right thing.
