The tale of Billy and his legendary stories is one of a writter who did not have such a legendary life.
Billy was a legendary writer whose stories were known as some of the best stories ever written. No, he was not rich, he was just a legend famous for crafting some of the best stories ever told. Scoot over and let me tell you why someone who was called a legend remained poor despite his incredible talent.
Billy’s journey to success was far from smooth. Billy had written a book that he tried to get published. All the major publishers had turned down his work, insisting his stories weren’t good enough. And just when Billy was about to give up, he met a publisher named Mr. Wigglebottom, the only one willing to take a chance on Billy’s book.
Billy’s book turned out to be a huge hit. It sold thousands of copies and made a lot of money. But instead of celebrating Billy’s success, Mr. Wigglebottom kept all the profits for himself. He made excuses about why he couldn’t pay Billy fairly and always seemed to have mysterious expenses that drained the book’s earnings. He really was a shrewed businessman!
Billy, hoping for a better future, wrote more and more books. He believed that if he worked hard enough, things would improve. But no matter how many books he wrote, Mr. Wigglebottom always found new ways to claim that there were more and more expenses. So Billy never saw a cent from his successful stories.
Living miserably, and without enough money to afford food or a decent place to live, Billy fell ill and, eventually, passed away. The once-celebrated writer was left with nothing but his stories, while Mr. Wigglebottom continued his schemes. But without Billy’s books to continue publishing, Mr. Wigglebottom’s fortunes dwindled and soon, he too struggled to pay for food and rent, and he eventually met a sad end.
Moral of the Story: Treat others the way you want to be treated. Fairness and kindness are worth more than all the money in the world.
